Spectators: 50 (Terracing: 38, Seating: 11, VIP seats: 1) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Alain Berset started the match with the kick off. A collision led to Switzerland getting a freekick after 4 minutes play. Gutierre Lauri hit a great ball. 5 minutes into the match, FC Wil 1900's Téo Rosa sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Kim-André van der Schans narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Kim-André van der Schans showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tory Pryor, who was totally free with the ball in the 6th minute. Lionel Paly showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Endrik Fuchs in the 12th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Pirmin Jäggi in the 14th minute of play forced Switzerland's goalkeeper Kim-André van der Schans to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Kim-André van der Schans took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tory Pryor, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 16th minute Endrik Fuchs shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lionel Paly saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Kim-André van der Schans made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Téo Rosa in the 19th minute of play. In the 22nd minute Pirmin Jäggi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kim-André van der Schans saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. FC Wil 1900's Lionel Paly proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 26th minute of the match, managed to save FC Wil 1900 from getting a goal against them. Kim-André van der Schans took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Pirmin Jäggi, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Switzerland's Kim-André van der Schans played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tory Pryor in the 33rd minute of play. In the 35th minute Téo Rosa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kim-André van der Schans saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of FC Wil 1900 booed when Switzerland was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 38 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gutierre Lauri didn't get a good kick on the ball. FC Wil 1900 were furious when Emilio De Luca was red carded, 41 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 40th minute of the game. One of FC Wil 1900:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Switzerland:s goal. 44 minutes had been played when some careless play by FC Wil 1900's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Martin Rutsch was slow to take the kick. During this time Switzerland's players had a chance to rest. Switzerland's Martin Rutsch was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Lionel Paly in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Kim-André van der Schans stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Pirmin Jäggi's shot from short distance in the 46th minute. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Switzerland's Howard Archambault was substituted for Anton Scheupach. Switzerland's Stefano Hubli was substituted for Jacquin Achermann. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Pirmin Jäggi to make the kick off. Gutierre Lauri recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 55th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Lionel Paly showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Endrik Fuchs, who was totally free with the ball in the 57th minute. Emery Heller hit a great freekick 59 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Martin Rutsch in the 60th minute of play forced FC Wil 1900's goalkeeper Lionel Paly to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Switzerland's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Martin Rutsch in the 62nd minute. A nice corner shot did that Gutierre Lauri got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Lionel Paly quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Martin Rutsch in the 64th minute of play forced FC Wil 1900's goalkeeper Lionel Paly to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 64th minute, Martin Rutsch ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Lionel Paly was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. 71 minutes into the match, Switzerland's goal looked a bit too open when Pirmin Jäggi came free, but Kim-André van der Schans reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, FC Wil 1900's Tory Pryor got a free kick in the 72nd minute. Emery Heller could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 74th minute of the match, but Kim-André van der Schans made a huge save. FC Wil 1900 were awarded a corner in the 79th minute after Switzerland's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Tory Pryor took the corner. The corner ended in Tory Pryor almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Switzerland's Kim-André van der Schans did a great save. 80 minutes into the match, FC Wil 1900's goal looked a bit too open when Gutierre Lauri came free, but Lionel Paly reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 80th minute, Gutierre Lauri ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Lionel Paly was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-0. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Alain Berset in the 87th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Lionel Paly saved FC Wil 1900 from getting behind. Diego Marthaler kicked well hit freekick during the 89th minute of the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Martin Rutsch in the 91st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Lionel Paly prevented the ball from getting in the gole. If Pirmin Jäggi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. FC Wil 1900's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
