After 22 minutes Merusca F&P's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Ruud van Nistelrooij who took care of the corner kick. In the 23rd minute of the match MILLONARIOS FC got a corner. Merusca F&P's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Ruud van Nistelrooij ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner led MILLONARIOS FC's Ruud van Nistelrooij to fire away a dangerous shot which Raúl Cabral despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Deyver Sonn in the 25th minute of play forced MILLONARIOS FC's goalkeeper Videl Mauriz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Juan Corredor could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 29th minute of the match, but Raúl Cabral made a huge save. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Deyver Sonn to make the kick off. The supporters of Merusca F&P booed when MILLONARIOS FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 94 match minutes in a wonderful position. Teofilo Goitia didn't get a good kick on the ball. The Merusca F&P players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
