An unexpectedly hard shot by Frank Martinek in the 18th minute of play forced C.A.Independiente's goalkeeper Felipe Bizen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. An unexpected shot in the 20th minute by Niclas Monschke got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Erich Pitten didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Jorge Bautista went, in the 23rd minute, to the upper right corner, 2-1 was the resulting score. When Angelino Rayman fell near the penalty area in the 28th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored C.A.Independiente's protests and gave Angelino Rayman a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of SSV Ulm 1846 booed when C.A.Independiente was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 28 match minutes in a wonderful position. Angelino Rayman didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 31st minute Tobias Urtsua shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Erich Pitten saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Frank Martinek could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 32nd minute of the match, but Felipe Bizen made a huge save. C.A.Independiente's defense didn't have a chance, in the 43rd minute, when Manfred Steiner scored to the left of an out of position Felipe Bizen, making the score, 4-1.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Manfred Steiner to strike the kick off in the second half. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. SSV Ulm 1846 fully deserved thier win.
