Real Cruzeiro FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Reyes Ritter was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Giuseppe Jewell in the 17th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Andrézinho Mattos saved Real Cruzeiro FC from getting behind. After 22 minutes, Laerte dos Santos mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Real Cruzeiro FC and the Santos FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 22nd match minute, Real Cruzeiro FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Laerte dos Santos to maneuver through the defense. After 24 minutes of play, Santos FC's Reyes Ritter made it 3-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Andrézinho Mattos was left in no man's land by his defense there! Andrézinho Mattos showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jimmy Coulter, who was totally free with the ball in the 33rd minute. The crowd rose to their feet as Kris Marks kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Andrézinho Mattos. That made the score 5-0 in the 35 minute of play. Lee Drake hit a great freekick 39 minutes into the match. 40 minutes into the match, Santos FC's goal looked a bit too open when Tales Batista came free, but Errol Sharpe reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Andrézinho Mattos was a little too slow when Jimmy Coulter got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 43rd minute. The score was now 6-0. The throw-in from Louis Ragland in the 46th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Real Cruzeiro FC's Júlio Arruda. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 6-0.

The wind increased when Giuseppe Jewell made the kick off in the second half. After 54 played minutes Real Cruzeiro FC got a freekick which was hit by Christiano de Barros. In the 56th minute Jimmy Coulter shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Andrézinho Mattos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Real Cruzeiro FC's Andrézinho Mattos played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Reyes Ritter in the 60th minute of play. 61 minutes into the match, Real Cruzeiro FC's goal looked a bit too open when Kris Marks came free, but Andrézinho Mattos reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 62 minutes into the game, Santos FC's Reyes Ritter nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Andrézinho Mattos made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 9-0. 66 minutes into the match, Real Cruzeiro FC's goal looked a bit too open when Reyes Ritter came free, but Andrézinho Mattos reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Edgar da Costa's late challenge caught a Santos FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Edgar da Costa helped the player get up and apologised. Edgar da Costa kicked well hit freekick during the 68th minute of the match. In the 69th minute of the match Jimmy Coulter sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Andrézinho Mattos skillfully saved the ball. After some careless play in the Real Cruzeiro FC defense, Louis Ragland kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Andrézinho Mattos. The Real Cruzeiro FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Andrézinho Mattos should have stopped the shot. When the match clock showed 76 minutes, the score became 11-0 when Reyes Ritter sped through Real Cruzeiro FC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Andrézinho Mattos. Andrézinho Mattos showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jimmy Coulter, who was totally free with the ball in the 79th minute. In the 81st minute, Kris Marks hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 86th match minute, Real Cruzeiro FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Júlio Arruda to maneuver through the defense. Andrézinho Mattos made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Giuseppe Jewell in the 87th minute of play. 89 minutes into the match, Real Cruzeiro FC's goal looked a bit too open when Reyes Ritter came free, but Andrézinho Mattos reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 89 played minutes Real Cruzeiro FC got a freekick which was hit by Júlio Arruda. In the 90th minute of the match Jimmy Coulter shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Andrézinho Mattos showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Homer Diggs's late challenge caught a Real Cruzeiro FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card.
