Independiente got a freekick which was hit by Rickie Cage. The supporters of C. A. Independiente booed when aa sweden was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 35 match minutes in a wonderful position. Olof Mellberg didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Quintin Starkey fell near the penalty area in the 37th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored C. A. Independiente's protests and gave Quintin Starkey a yellow card for diving instead. In the 37th minute, Quintin Starkey hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.
