In the 11th minute of the match, Calum Frost tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Alberto Diagur saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Conan Shields didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Victoriano Teofilio went, in the 13th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Conan Shields made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mauro Odon in the 25th minute of play. With a little luck, PGE FC's Alberto Diagur got control of the ball when Vern Elwick tried to sneak it across the goal line. Alberto Diagur made an important save on a dangerous shot by Calum Frost in the 32nd minute. When Neil Murray fell near the penalty area in the 32nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Clapham Comets F.C.'s protests and gave Neil Murray a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to PGE FC getting a freekick after 35 minutes play. Cristian Adrio hit a great ball. 37 minutes into the match, PGE FC's goal looked a bit too open when Marco Overmars came free, but Alberto Diagur reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Conan Shields showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Victoriano Teofilio, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. Alberto Diagur showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Edward Hind in the 42nd minute of the match. Marco Overmars received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Alberto Diagur came out and tried to block the shot, but Marco Overmars slotted it home off the left post making it 1-1 in the 45th minute. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Victoriano Teofilio to strike the kick off in the second half. After some careless play in the Clapham Comets F.C. defense, Mauro Odon kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Conan Shields. The Clapham Comets F.C. fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Conan Shields should have stopped the shot. Alberto Diagur stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Marco Overmars's shot from short distance in the 55th minute. Gil Godoi hit a great freekick 56 minutes into the match. Clapham Comets F.C.'s supporters crossed their fingers, but Marco Overmars was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 86th match minute, Clapham Comets F.C. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Vern Elwick to maneuver through the defense.
