In the 12th minute ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA were awarded a corner. Miguel Prosperi went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner led ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's Miguel Prosperi to fire away a dangerous shot which Erasmo Diegotxe despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Esteban Iztal made in the 14th minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Elpidio Francis however managed to control. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sergio Mustafa in the 18th minute of play forced ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's goalkeeper Branislav Velchevski to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 20 played minutes ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA got a freekick which was hit by Bonifacio Suarez. The supporters of Federales FC Ψ booed when ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bonifacio Suarez didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Elpidio Francis had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Mauricio Cuero fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 32nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Branislav Velchevski having to interfere. ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's Elpidio Francis managed to work through Federales FC Ψ's defense and was going for an easy goal, but he hit the shot with his toe and the ball flew outside the goal. Elpidio Francis dejectedly held out his arms as if to ask why the ball hadn't gone in. Bonifacio Suarez kicked well hit freekick during the 40th minute of the match. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Sergio Mustafa was the one to do the kick off. Elpidio Francis recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 56th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Federales FC Ψ's Flavio Perez was substituted for Roberto Simão. Federales FC Ψ's Bernardo Salbatore was substituted for Sergio Mustafa. ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's Branislav Velchevski played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bernardo Salbatore in the 62nd minute of play. Mauricio Cuero kicked well hit freekick during the 63rd minute of the match. When Miguel Prosperi came up free with the goalie in the 64th minute, the ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Miguel Prosperi couldn't finish the play. Elpidio Francis struck a weak shot in the 70th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bernardo Salbatore in the 88th minute of play forced ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's goalkeeper Branislav Velchevski to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience was convinced that Bernardo Salbatore's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Branislav Velchevski was relentless in the 90th minute of the game.
