The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Hannover Reds's Bernd Yuschni played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Louie Anderjoli in the 4th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Hannover Reds's Willi Tilmann got a free kick in the 5th minute. When Emilio Argina came up free with the goalie in the 7th minute, the Hannover Reds fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Emilio Argina couldn't finish the play. With a little luck, 1. FC Union Weberei's Heiner Studer got control of the ball when Emilio Argina tried to sneak it across the goal line. If Felix Pierucci had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 1. FC Union Weberei's Heiner Studer played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lars Voss in the 21st minute of play. In the 23rd minute Hannover Reds were awarded a corner. Otfried Mutke went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner ended in Otfried Mutke almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but 1. FC Union Weberei's Heiner Studer did a great save. In the 26thth minute of the game Emilio Argina who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but 1. FC Union Weberei's Heiner Studer was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. With an all-out effort, Hannover Reds's Heiner Studer threw himself towards the right post 30 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Emilio Argina, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. 32 minutes into the match, Nico Gruenewald had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Bernd Yuschni. Hannover Reds's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Nico Gruenewald was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. 34 minutes into the match, 1. FC Union Weberei's goalkeeper Heiner Studer had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Otfried Mutke. Willi Tilmann came free with the goalkeeper in the 37th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Heiner Studer could save by the left post. 38 minutes into the match, Emilio Argina dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Heiner Studer, 1-1. Heiner Studer came out of the goal in the 43rd minute to try and stop a shot by Hannover Reds's Emilio Argina. But to his dismay, Emilio Argina quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-1. In the 48th minute Bonifatius Scarano shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bernd Yuschni saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Emilio Argina stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Bernd Yuschni made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nico Gruenewald in the 52nd minute of play. Casimir Wickihalter took the ball and in the 54 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Bernd Yuschni. Bernd Yuschni dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-2. Bernd Yuschni made an important save on a dangerous shot by Nico Gruenewald in the 60th minute. Owain Wollenmann's late challenge caught a Hannover Reds's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Owain Wollenmann helped the player get up and apologised. Heiner Studer made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lars Voss in the 66th minute of play. 68 minutes into the match, Hannover Reds's Otfried Mutke sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Heiner Studer narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Bernd Yuschni stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Nico Gruenewald's shot from short distance in the 70th minute. Nico Gruenewalds short, quick shot in the 72ndth minute got Bernd Yuschni to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. If Owain Wollenmann had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Heiner Studer made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Emilio Argina in the 78th minute of play. Hannover Reds's Bernd Yuschni proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 80th minute of the match, managed to save Hannover Reds from getting a goal against them. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nico Gruenewald in the 83rd minute of play forced Hannover Reds's goalkeeper Bernd Yuschni to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Emilio Argina in the 84th minute of play forced 1. FC Union Weberei's goalkeeper Heiner Studer to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 85th minute, Owain Wollenmann hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in 1. FC Union Weberei's zone, Otfried Mutke stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Heiner Studer came out of the goal and Otfried Mutke tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Hannover Reds's Otfried Mutke in the 90th minute got a chance for a shot 90th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye 1. FC Union Weberei's goalie prevented a goal. In the 92nd minute Emilio Argina shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Heiner Studer saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 93rd minute, Emilio Argina ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Heiner Studer was frozen by the shot and now it was 4-2.
