Tsinamdzghvrishvili Højlund's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Pepe Yates read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 3rd minute of play. In the 11th minute, Edgardo Abdallah hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 12 minutes, Alcides López mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Inter de Chillán and the ASD Real Molinella 1911 players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of ASD Real Molinella 1911 booed when Inter de Chillán was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 13 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alcides López didn't get a good kick on the ball. A hard and well directed shot from Rogerio Berecedo led 18 minutes into the game to a goal after the ball had bounced deceptively just in front of the goal. ASD Real Molinella 1911's Tomé Montenegro became a little unsure and couldn't grip the ball before it was over the goalline. Thus it was 0-1. Tomé Montenegro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alcides López, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Inter de Chillán's Pepe Yates played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tsinamdzghvrishvili Højlund in the 28th minute of play. Tomé Montenegro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alcides López in the 30th minute of play. Amerigo Firmani recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 34th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Amerigo Firmani received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 37th minute. Pepe Yates tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

In the 52nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Inter de Chillán's goalkeeper Pepe Yates, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Tsinamdzghvrishvili Højlund might have been able to make a better finish in the 57th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Pepe Yates. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Tsinamdzghvrishvili Højlund ran back to his position shaking his head. Pepe Yates made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Amerigo Firmani in the 61st minute of play. Inter de Chillán's Pepe Yates played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tsinamdzghvrishvili Højlund in the 62nd minute of play. After 64 played minutes ASD Real Molinella 1911 got a freekick which was hit by Elia Santangelo. Inter de Chillán's Giuseppe Meazza was substituted for Abelado Arredondo. In the 66th match minute, ASD Real Molinella 1911 was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Elia Santangelo to maneuver through the defense. In the 72nd minute Giuseppe Meazza shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tomé Montenegro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 74th minute, Sol Campbell ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Tomé Montenegro was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. ASD Real Molinella 1911 made a substitution. Sandro Coisne replaced Elia Santangelo. In the 79th minute, Renato Chaves made a precise shot to the right of Pepe Yates. Inter de Chillán's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-2. Inter de Chillán's Pepe Yates played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Renato Chaves in the 87th minute of play. Steve Vaid could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 89th minute of the match, but Tomé Montenegro made a huge save. Pepe Yates didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Renato Chaves went, in the 91st minute, to the upper right corner, 3-2 was the resulting score. In the 94th minute Renato Chaves shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pepe Yates saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Despite being the better team, ASD Real Molinella 1911 failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
