After having played for 3 minutes, Andre Wise managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. U21 Andorra's supporters crossed their fingers, but Andre Wise was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. U21 Costa Rica's Olger Azofeifa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lucas Gilchrist in the 4th minute of play. 6 minutes into the match, Jorge Padilla dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Santa Tecla, 1-0. Olger Azofeifa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Andre Wise in the 9th minute of play. Olger Azofeifa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lucas Gilchrist, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Kerry Flöter struck a weak shot in the 12th minute. Santa Tecla didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for U21 Costa Rica. In the 17th minute of the match U21 Andorra got a corner. U21 Costa Rica's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Phil Vine ran over to the corner to take the kick. Phil Vine made a great header on U21 Andorra's corner, it was just that U21 Costa Rica's Olger Azofeifa managed to reach the ball for a save. After a rather tough play, U21 Costa Rica's Mićo Grande got a free kick in the 20th minute. Olger Azofeifa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lucas Gilchrist in the 20th minute of the match. Leon Obando hit a great freekick 21 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, U21 Andorra's Eric Morgan got a free kick in the 26th minute. Luis Marin hit a great freekick 44 minutes into the match. In the 45th minute of the match Eric Morgan shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Olger Azofeifa showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. With a little luck, U21 Andorra's Santa Tecla got control of the ball when Kerry Flöter tried to sneak it across the goal line. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Jorge Padilla stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. When the match clock showed 51 minutes, the score became 1-1 when Lucas Gilchrist sped through U21 Costa Rica's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Olger Azofeifa. Olger Azofeifa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lucas Gilchrist, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 57 minutes into the match, U21 Costa Rica's goalkeeper Olger Azofeifa had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Andre Wise. Olger Azofeifa stood somewhat misplaced when Lucas Gilchrist came free in front of goal and shot 1-2 to the left of him in the 60 minute. U21 Costa Rica's Hernan Mendez was substituted for Kerry Flöter. When Jorge Padilla fell near the penalty area in the 65th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored U21 Costa Rica's protests and gave Jorge Padilla a yellow card for diving instead. Jorge Padilla hit a great freekick 65 minutes into the match. Luis Marin's late challenge caught a U21 Andorra's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Luis Marin helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, U21 Costa Rica's Luis Marin got a free kick in the 70th minute. In the 71st minute of the match Paul Reeve sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Olger Azofeifa skillfully saved the ball. The crowd rose to their feet as U21 Andorra's Lucas Gilchrist slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Olger Azofeifa. That made the score 1-3 after 75 minutes of play. Lucas Gilchrist took the ball and in the 80 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Olger Azofeifa. Olger Azofeifa dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-4. U21 Andorra's Santa Tecla played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hernan Mendez in the 83rd minute of play. In the 85th minute, Hernan Mendez left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The U21 Costa Rica fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-4. 94 minutes into the match, U21 Costa Rica's goalkeeper Olger Azofeifa had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Andre Wise. U21 Andorra's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
