The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 7th minute Gusmão Azeredo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Yağızalp Özerkmen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet as Gremio Viana's Edson Nascimento slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Yağızalp Özerkmen. That made the score 1-0 after 7 minutes of play. With an all-out effort, Gremio Viana's Yağızalp Özerkmen threw himself towards the right post 11 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Gusmão Azeredo, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Yağızalp Özerkmen showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Basílio Caetano, who was totally free with the ball in the 12th minute. 14 minutes into the match, Los Tatangelos's goalkeeper Yağızalp Özerkmen had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Edson Nascimento. Yağızalp Özerkmen made a fantastic save in the 19th minute, when Gusmão Azeredo sent off a good shot on target. 20 minutes into the match, Gremio Viana's goal looked a bit too open when Batur Mahmut came free, but João Carvalhais reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. João Carvalhais showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Arif Nihat Torgay in the 21st minute of the match. Los Tatangelos's Yağızalp Özerkmen played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Basílio Caetano in the 24th minute of play. Yağızalp Özerkmen showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Basílio Caetano, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. After 32 played minutes Los Tatangelos got a freekick which was hit by Ksawery Awizo. After 37 played minutes Los Tatangelos got a freekick which was hit by Arif Nihat Torgay. 39 minutes into the match, Los Tatangelos's goal looked a bit too open when Gusmão Azeredo came free, but Yağızalp Özerkmen reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. João Carvalhais made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Arif Nihat Torgay in the 40th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 42nd minute, Edson Nascimento managed to get in a good position for a shot. Gremio Viana's supporters rose to their feet, but Edson Nascimento was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Yağızalp Özerkmen breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Gusmão Azeredo was the one to do the kick off. After 51 minutes, Edson Nascimento made it 2-0 with a short kick to the right side. Los Tatangelos's Yağızalp Özerkmen tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 53rd match minute, Gremio Viana was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alexandre Onofre to maneuver through the defense. Batur Mahmut's late challenge caught a Gremio Viana's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Batur Mahmut helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Los Tatangelos's Batur Mahmut got a free kick in the 61st minute. Yağızalp Özerkmen took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alexandre Onofre, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 71 minutes into the game, Arif Burak Kahveci threw the ball into play from the sideline. Gremio Viana's Alexandre Onofre quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. If Alexandre Onofre had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 72nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Arif Burak Kahveci charged in rather forcefully in the 75th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Arif Burak Kahveci the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 75th minute, Arif Burak Kahveci hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Basílio Caetano sent away a hard shot on goal in the 78th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After having played for 81 minutes, Angelino Froila managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Gremio Viana's supporters crossed their fingers, but Angelino Froila was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 82 played minutes Gremio Viana got a freekick which was hit by Higino Queirós. Yağızalp Özerkmen made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gusmão Azeredo in the 85th minute of play. After 85 minutes of play Los Tatangelos's Arif Burak Kahveci was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. Arif Burak Kahveci kicked well hit freekick during the 86th minute of the match. 87 minutes into the match, Basílio Caetano notched a goal, 3-1, to the right of Los Tatangelos's Yağızalp Özerkmen. Yağızalp Özerkmen was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 91st minute, Alexandre Onofre hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Los Tatangelos's Arif Nihat Torgay got a good chance for a goal in the 93rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Gremio Viana fans cheered their team off the field, for while Los Tatangelos had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
