The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 3 minutes into the match, Variante Delta's goal looked a bit too open when Julio De Diego came free, but Tartalo Alarcon reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jorge Oberto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Marciano Nogueira in the 10th minute of play. Lalo Blanquel struck a weak shot in the 15th minute. Jorge Oberto didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Variante Delta. Lalo Blanquel might have been able to make a better finish in the 17th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jorge Oberto. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Lalo Blanquel ran back to his position shaking his head. When Buenaventura FC's Julio De Diego in the 23rd minute got a chance for a shot 23rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Variante Delta's goalie prevented a goal. Andres Rios recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 25th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. A collision led to Variante Delta getting a freekick after 28 minutes play. Oscar Villatoro hit a great ball. Andres Rios might have been able to make a better finish in the 29th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Tartalo Alarcon. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Andres Rios ran back to his position shaking his head. The audience thought a goal was coming when Oscar Villatoro got free with Jorge Oberto in the 39th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. An unexpectedly hard shot by Julio De Diego in the 43rd minute of play forced Variante Delta's goalkeeper Tartalo Alarcon to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Marciano Nogueira to make the kick off. Julio De Diego who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 54thth minute tested the skills of Tartalo Alarcon when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Andres Rios received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 59th minute. Tartalo Alarcon tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The Buenaventura FC fans' excitement grew in the 61st match minute when Buenaventura FC's Julio De Diego looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. In the 65th minute, Julio De Diego hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Pablo Bermudez kicked well hit freekick during the 66th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Buenaventura FC's Francesco Peralta got a free kick in the 67th minute. A collision led to Variante Delta getting a freekick after 77 minutes play. Jorge Botella hit a great ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 84th minute, Julio De Diego managed to get in a good position for a shot. Buenaventura FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Julio De Diego was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Tartalo Alarcon breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. A collision led to Buenaventura FC getting a freekick after 85 minutes play. Orlando Ramírez hit a great ball. Jorge Oberto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lalo Blanquel in the 90th minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Julio De Diego in the 92nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Tartalo Alarcon prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The supporters of Buenaventura FC booed when Variante Delta was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 95 match minutes in a wonderful position. Layne Saron didn't get a good kick on the ball. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Variante Delta fans cheered their team off the field, for while Buenaventura FC had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
