Maximo Dei was slow to take the kick. During this time Estudiantes de América's players had a chance to rest. Marcos Ranolfo made a fantastic save in the 46th minute, when David Jönsätt sent off a good shot on target. 47 minutes into the match, Estudiantes de América's goal looked a bit too open when Emil Atanasiu came free, but Marcos Ranolfo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.
