Mateo Berbiz blasted a shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Jorge Armani having to make a save. Mateo Berbiz's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Jorge Armani firmly grabbed it by the left post. Prospero Abad charged in rather forcefully in the 31st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-4 lead.

An unexpectedly hard shot by David Banegas in the 55th minute of play forced Club Almirante Brown's goalkeeper Esteban Kaiet to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A throw-in in the 66th minute of the game was made by Lê Yang with David Banegas as target, who quickly passed the ball forward.
