With a couple of smart ball manuevers Hugo Saboya in the 26th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg João Assunção saved SLB TELHA from getting behind. In the 27th minute Universitario de deportes were awarded a corner. Jorge Olaechea went to the cornerflag to take it. Universitario de deportes's Jorge Olaechea was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but João Assunção in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. After 30th play minutes Hugo Saboya shot 0-3, a short shot which went by João Assunção and just under the crossbar into goal. In the 33rd minute, Valério Vilaça left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The SLB TELHA fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-3. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling J.P. Morgan in the 37th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck João Assunção prevented the ball from getting in the gole. João Assunção took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Filomeno Sepúlveda, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Lucas Rallo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Paulo Bezerra, who was totally free with the ball in the 42nd minute. The audience was convinced that Hugo Saboya's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but João Assunção was relentless in the 46th minute of the game. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Universitario de deportes's Modesto Senio was substituted for Roman Zima. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Hugo Saboya made a kick off. The audience thought a goal was coming when Hugo Saboya got free with João Assunção in the 60th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. J.P. Morgan recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 70th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. A well placed Hugo Saboya short distance shot in the 78th minute ended with a hard ball which without a chance for the goalkeeper went staright up into the goalkeepers left cross. 82 minutes into the match, Hugo Saboya notched a goal, 1-7, to the right of SLB TELHA's João Assunção. João Assunção was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Through an outstanding action, after 85 minutes, João Assunção successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. João Assunção showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from J.P. Morgan, who was totally free with the ball in the 93rd minute. When Hugo Saboya came up free with the goalie in the 94th minute, the Universitario de deportes fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Hugo Saboya couldn't finish the play. Tomás Luz hit a great freekick 97 minutes into the match. Fernando Zangger hit a great freekick 98 minutes into the match.
