Wilford Shipp sent away a hard shot on goal in the 3rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After 4 minutes, Wilford Shipp mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Cosmos Soccer Club and the C. A. Independiente players grew even worse after the yellow card. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Mel Tompkins during the 7th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 7th match minute, C. A. Independiente was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Mel Tompkins to maneuver through the defense. After 12 played minutes C. A. Independiente got a freekick which was hit by Wyatt Fowler. In the 13thth minute of the game Russ Thorne who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but C. A. Independiente's Truman Cooley was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After having played for 17 minutes, Wyatt Fowler managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. C. A. Independiente's supporters crossed their fingers, but Wyatt Fowler was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. A collision led to C. A. Independiente getting a freekick after 21 minutes play. Murray Farrar hit a great ball. The supporters of C. A. Independiente booed when Cosmos Soccer Club was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. Giuseppe Read didn't get a good kick on the ball. Bruce Nesbitt showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rickie Cage, who was totally free with the ball in the 28th minute. A collision led to C. A. Independiente getting a freekick after 36 minutes play. Rodney Urbina hit a great ball. In the 38th minute, Franklin Willingham got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Bruce Nesbitt showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rickie Cage in the 40th minute of the match. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Rodney Urbina was the one to do the kick off. If Rickie Cage had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Cosmos Soccer Club's Bruce Nesbitt played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rickie Cage in the 57th minute of play. 65 minutes into the game, Franklin Willingham recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Truman Cooley. Franklin Willingham showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-1. Rodney Urbina fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bruce Nesbitt having to interfere. Bruce Nesbitt showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rodney Urbina in the 72nd minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rickie Cage in the 87th minute of play forced Cosmos Soccer Club's goalkeeper Bruce Nesbitt to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 90th match minute, Cosmos Soccer Club was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rudolph Saunders to maneuver through the defense. Franklin Willingham fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Truman Cooley having to interfere. When the final whistle sounded Cosmos Soccer Club left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than C. A. Independiente.
