Cristoforo Brillante showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alvaro Lupi, who was totally free with the ball in the 12th minute. Achille Albanesi made an important save on a dangerous shot by Alvaro Sforza in the 15th minute. Through an outstanding action, after 17 minutes, Achille Albanesi successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. After some careless play in the S.S.C. NAPOLI defense, Fabiano Di Rocco kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Achille Albanesi. The S.S.C. NAPOLI fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Achille Albanesi should have stopped the shot. Michel Dijkman fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cristoforo Brillante having to interfere. A collision led to AC Roma getting a freekick after 29 minutes play. Armin Ascenzi hit a great ball. Diego Vargas recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 30th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Fulvio Muzzolon fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cristoforo Brillante having to interfere. In the 37th minute, Alvaro Sforza ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Achille Albanesi was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-0. Alvaro Sforza sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. 46 minutes into the match, AC Roma's goal looked a bit too open when Ciccio Bassani came free, but Cristoforo Brillante reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

S.S.C. NAPOLI made a substitution. Fulvio Grande replaced Fulvio Muzzolon. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Alvaro Lupi to make the kick off. Cristoforo Brillante made an important save on a dangerous shot by Alvaro Lupi in the 52nd minute. S.S.C. NAPOLI's Achille Albanesi played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Javier Della Francesca in the 54th minute of play. Alvaro Sforza kicked well hit freekick during the 59th minute of the match. AC Roma's Cristoforo Brillante played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ciccio Bassani in the 60th minute of play. S.S.C. Cristoforo Brillante was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Achille Albanesi showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Javier Della Francesca in the 97th minute of the match. When the referee blew the final whistle, AC Roma could leave the field as winners, despite S.S.C. NAPOLI having more of the ball for most of the match.
