An unexpectedly hard shot by Anatole Le Lay in the 21st minute of play forced Elegance Dijon's goalkeeper Dave Rinaldi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jean-Yves Bayle fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dave Rinaldi having to interfere. 25 minutes into the match, Elegance Dijon's goal looked a bit too open when Jean-Yves Bayle came free, but Dave Rinaldi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 27th match minute, SILMONT was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Anatole Le Lay to maneuver through the defense. In the last second Qiu Zhi throw himself and got hold of the ball when Stéphane Gaudy in the 28thth minute from his position got away a shot towards the right post. Qiu Zhi showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from David Kopa, who was totally free with the ball in the 29th minute. Dave Rinaldi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Anatole Le Lay, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 31 minutes into the match, Elegance Dijon's goal looked a bit too open when Anatole Le Lay came free, but Dave Rinaldi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With a little luck, SILMONT's Qiu Zhi got control of the ball when Roger Hauguel tried to sneak it across the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Elegance Dijon's zone, Martial Haas stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Dave Rinaldi came out of the goal and Martial Haas tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Martial Haas struck a weak shot in the 40th minute. Dave Rinaldi didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for SILMONT. Dave Rinaldi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Martial Haas in the 46th minute of play. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Stéphane Gaudy stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 51st minute, Anatole Le Lay got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 53 played minutes Elegance Dijon got a freekick which was hit by Régis Catoire. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Stéphane Gaudy in the 56th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Qiu Zhi saved SILMONT from getting behind. An unexpectedly hard shot by Roger Hauguel in the 57th minute of play forced SILMONT's goalkeeper Qiu Zhi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. SILMONT's Qiu Zhi played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Christian Minaud in the 59th minute of play. 63 minutes into the match, Elegance Dijon's goal looked a bit too open when Anatole Le Lay came free, but Dave Rinaldi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 68 minutes into the match, Anatole Le Lay notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Elegance Dijon's Dave Rinaldi. Dave Rinaldi was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Elegance Dijon's Gilles Baur was substituted for David Kopa. The Elegance Dijon fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Dave Rinaldi should have stopped the shot. SILMONT's Omar Jakue was substituted for Anatole Le Lay. SILMONT's Xiao Zhen Feng was substituted for Martial Haas. Qiu Zhi showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gilles Baur in the 88th minute of the match. Omar Jakue could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 90th minute of the match, but Dave Rinaldi made a huge save.
