The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Lorenzo Viergol took the ball and in the 5 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Roman Masharov. Roman Masharov dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. When Ronaldinho Gentenaar fell near the penalty area in the 7th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Barcelona de América's protests and gave Ronaldinho Gentenaar a yellow card for diving instead. Ronaldinho Gentenaar hit a great freekick 8 minutes into the match. Alfred Kochowski made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Arnaldo Alsua in the 11th minute of play. Ronaldinho Gentenaar received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 20th minute. Roman Masharov tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Barcelona de América's Juan Guerrero was substituted for Ronaldinho Gentenaar. Mario Mariny made in the 54th minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Arnaldo Alsua. Krišjānis Ābeļnieks sent away a hard shot on goal in the 57th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 64th minute, Krišjānis Ābeļnieks got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 68 minutes in the game Czeslaw Jerzyk did a throw-in, and the ball was quickly in game thanks to Arnaldo Alsua. In the 69th match minute, ............ was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Czeslaw Jerzyk to maneuver through the defense. In the 70th minute, Krišjānis Ābeļnieks ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Roman Masharov was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1. In the 80thth minute of the game Arnaldo Alsua who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Barcelona de América's Alfred Kochowski was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Alfred Kochowski made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Arnaldo Alsua in the 84th minute of play. Czeslaw Jerzyk kicked well hit freekick during the 87th minute of the match. After having played for 87 minutes, Krišjānis Ābeļnieks managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Barcelona de América's supporters crossed their fingers, but Krišjānis Ābeļnieks was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Parisi Queduro charged in rather forcefully in the 94th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Parisi Queduro the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Barcelona de América's Parisi Queduro got a free kick in the 94th minute. The supporters of Barcelona de América booed when ............ was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 95 match minutes in a wonderful position. Czeslaw Jerzyk didn't get a good kick on the ball. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Barcelona de América fans cheered their team off the field, for while ............ had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
