Manuel Marchidan could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 17th minute of the match, but Aristide Lung made a huge save. Cláudio Taffarel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lucas Matos, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 23rd minute, Lucas Matos ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Cláudio Taffarel was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. The audience thought a goal was coming when Manuel Marchidan got free with Aristide Lung in the 28th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort.
