An unexpectedly hard shot by Higinio Jerano in the 27th minute of play forced Club Atlético de Newell's goalkeeper Tommy Thompson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Tommy Thompson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Fabio Jerico in the 29th minute of play. Florida Gulf Coast's Lucio Geofredo proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 32nd minute of the match, managed to save Florida Gulf Coast from getting a goal against them. 33 minutes had been played when some careless play by Florida Gulf Coast's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Olly Nethercot was slow to take the kick. During this time Club Atlético de Newell's players had a chance to rest. A nice corner shot did that Olly Nethercot got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Lucio Geofredo quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Florida Gulf Coast's defense didn't have a chance, in the 38th minute, when Rupert Bear scored to the left of an out of position Lucio Geofredo, making the score, 2-0. Benjamin Barfield kicked well hit freekick during the 41st minute of the match. 48 minutes into the match, Florida Gulf Coast's goalkeeper Lucio Geofredo had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Olly Nethercot. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Fabio Jerico made a kick off. In the 52nd minute Rupert Bear shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lucio Geofredo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 54th minute, Rupert Bear left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Club Atlético de Newell fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-0. In a very dangerous position, a player in Club Atlético de Newell fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 57th minute. Penalty! Club Atlético de Newell's supporters crossed their fingers, but Edward Rushmere was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When Olly Nethercot fell near the penalty area in the 67th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Club Atlético de Newell's protests and gave Olly Nethercot a yellow card for diving instead. After 67 played minutes Club Atlético de Newell got a freekick which was hit by Olly Nethercot. Edward Rushmere sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 78th minute, Yves Bonheur got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Prudencio Rafe kicked well hit freekick during the 79th minute of the match. Higinio Jerano sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 87 minutes into the match, Florida Gulf Coast's goal looked a bit too open when Edward Rushmere came free, but Lucio Geofredo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Lucio Geofredo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Edward Rushmere, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Club Atlético de Newell's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
