In the 12th minute Wágner Recife shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cisco Rubial saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Roger Kohn made in the 15th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by AFC United's Gilen Martioda. Cisco Rubial showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Wágner Recife in the 17th minute of the match. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Egun Galan stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Vancouver Reds's Santana Armada played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alberto Alda in the 57th minute of play. Jhonny Evans lost his temper 58 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. The supporters of Vancouver Reds booed when AFC United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 59 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jhonny Evans didn't get a good kick on the ball. Vancouver Reds made a substitution. Jakub Kiwior replaced Louie Mulford. Vancouver Reds's Rodrigo Ferdinand was substituted for Róbson Queirós. Archibaldo Ahumada's late challenge caught a Vancouver Reds's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. If Archibaldo Ahumada had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 83rd minute Saverio Niva shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cisco Rubial saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Saverio Niva in the 84th minute of play forced AFC United's goalkeeper Cisco Rubial to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. AFC United's Cisco Rubial proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 86th minute of the match, managed to save AFC United from getting a goal against them. Saverio Niva could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 88th minute of the match, but Cisco Rubial made a huge save. After having played for 90 minutes, Archibaldo Ahumada managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. AFC United's supporters crossed their fingers, but Archibaldo Ahumada was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Cisco Rubial made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Saverio Niva in the 95th minute of play. Vancouver Reds were clearly unhappy with the draw, as they felt they had done enough to earn themselves a victory.
