Juan Mendez's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Sérgio Viegas read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 14th minute of play. After 19 played minutes Sport Açores e Benfica got a freekick which was hit by Gervásio Vilhena. 20 minutes into the match, Fillos de Breogán's Nisio Vuelta sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Sérgio Viegas narrowly saved just below the crossbar. David Soveral was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 26th minute. Sport Açores e Benfica's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Fillos de Breogán's Arnau Cifuentes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by David Soveral in the 28th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by David Soveral in the 31st minute of play forced Fillos de Breogán's goalkeeper Arnau Cifuentes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Sport Açores e Benfica booed when Fillos de Breogán was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 32 match minutes in a wonderful position. Archibaldo Esteban didn't get a good kick on the ball. Arnau Cifuentes made a fantastic save in the 33rd minute, when David Soveral sent off a good shot on target. An unexpectedly hard shot by David Soveral in the 38th minute of play forced Fillos de Breogán's goalkeeper Arnau Cifuentes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gervásio Vilhena kicked well hit freekick during the 40th minute of the match. 46 minutes into the game, Jusepe Zamora cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Sérgio Viegas was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Yvon Candamil stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Arnau Cifuentes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from David Soveral, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Maurício Gois sent away a hard shot on goal in the 58th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Sport Açores e Benfica booed when Fillos de Breogán was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 61 match minutes in a wonderful position. Norino Mangas didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 67th minute Ciro Unzueta shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sérgio Viegas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Sport Açores e Benfica's Sérgio Viegas played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ciro Unzueta in the 68th minute of play. 74 minutes into the match, Yvon Candamil dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Sérgio Viegas, 0-2. When Juan Mendez came up free with the goalie in the 90th minute, the Fillos de Breogán fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Juan Mendez couldn't finish the play. After 92 played minutes Fillos de Breogán got a freekick which was hit by Nisio Vuelta. 95 minutes into the match, Yvon Candamil dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Sérgio Viegas, 0-3. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Fillos de Breogán had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
