Romário Seco charged in rather forcefully in the 2nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Romário Seco the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. 3 minutes into the match, Humberto Rossi had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Raúl de Amaral. Mestre GG's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Humberto Rossi was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. In the 7th minute, Humberto Rossi got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Raúl de Amaral made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sidney Vianna in the 10th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Humberto Rossi got free with Raúl de Amaral in the 13th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 17 played minutes CE LAJEADENSE RS got a freekick which was hit by Paulo Silva. In the 20th minute, Oswaldo Dracena hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Gilvan Moura sent away a hard shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Anselmo Carioca's late challenge caught a CE LAJEADENSE RS's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Anselmo Carioca helped the player get up and apologised. Anselmo Carioca kicked well hit freekick during the 24th minute of the match. Sidney Vianna struck a weak shot in the 27th minute. Raúl de Amaral didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for CE LAJEADENSE RS. CE LAJEADENSE RS's Flavinho Reis played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fiori Campidelis in the 31st minute of play. In the 33rd match minute, Mestre GG was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gildo Sá to maneuver through the defense. In the 36th minute Chiquinho Sergipano shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Flavinho Reis saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Humberto Rossi was the one to do the kick off. After having played for 51 minutes, Romário Seco managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Mestre GG's supporters crossed their fingers, but Romário Seco was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Flavinho Reis made an important save on a dangerous shot by Romário Seco in the 53rd minute. Flavinho Reis showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Chiquinho Sergipano, who was totally free with the ball in the 55th minute. Raúl de Amaral took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sidney Vianna, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gilvan Moura in the 58th minute of play forced Mestre GG's goalkeeper Raúl de Amaral to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 76 played minutes, CE LAJEADENSE RS's Caio Ramos shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Raúl de Amaral came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in CE LAJEADENSE RS reached it. In the 79th minute, Mestre GG's Chiquinho Sergipano dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-1. After some careless play in the Mestre GG defense, Gilvan Moura kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Raúl de Amaral. The Mestre GG fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Raúl de Amaral should have stopped the shot. Raúl de Amaral showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Humberto Rossi, who was totally free with the ball in the 85th minute. 87 minutes into the match, Mestre GG's goal looked a bit too open when Oséas Miranda came free, but Raúl de Amaral reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, CE LAJEADENSE RS's Sidney Vianna got a free kick in the 95th minute. The CE LAJEADENSE RS players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
