Jari Alenius was slow to take the kick. During this time Finland's players had a chance to rest. The goalkeeper smacked the ball away after a great corner, but Leevi Kampman advanced and headed the ball into goal, 1-0 in the 32nd minute. Atro Kiviharju showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Merdan Abesadze in the 35th minute of the match.
