Marco-Antonio Etcheverry might have been able to make a better finish in the 9th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Tulio Armendarez. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Marco-Antonio Etcheverry ran back to his position shaking his head. Leandro Nurueña charged in rather forcefully in the 11th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Leandro Nurueña the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 11 played minutes MOTILONES FC got a freekick which was hit by Leandro Nurueña. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Rik Valiño during the 16th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. When Jairo Caras came up free with the goalie in the 42nd minute, the Matapalito fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jairo Caras couldn't finish the play. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-2.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Marco-Antonio Etcheverry made a kick off. Jairo Caras struck a weak shot in the 58th minute. Vincent Graells didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Matapalito. Marco-Antonio Etcheverry fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 60th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tulio Armendarez having to interfere. After 68 minutes, Nicodemo Sierralta mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Matapalito and the MOTILONES FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Leandro Nurueña took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 69th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Tulio Armendarez. Matapalito's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. In the 72nd minute, Etor Borinaga made a precise shot to the right of Tulio Armendarez. Matapalito's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-4. Cebo Millares fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 75th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Vincent Graells having to interfere. In the 82nd minute of the match Domeka Ascarretazabal shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Vincent Graells showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Jairo Caras in the 84th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Vincent Graells prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Machado Peinador lost his temper 86 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. Paublo Achaque shot the penalty kick right outside the post. If Rodrigo De Paul had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The crowd rose to their feet as Leandro Nurueña kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Tulio Armendarez. That made the score 1-5 in the 97 minute of play. The MOTILONES FC supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing MOTILONES FC would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
