If Clint Blount had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Scott Rosenthal hit a great freekick 25 minutes into the match. Daryl Swanson charged in rather forcefully in the 30th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Daryl Swanson the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. 0-2 became the score in the 34th minute when Bernardo Huang elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. David Cronin took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kerry Dickey, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some fancy dribbling in the 45th minute, Clint Blount managed to get in a good position for a shot. St. James FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Clint Blount was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. David Cronin breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After the first half St. James FC were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Andrew Leach hit a great freekick 53 minutes into the match. Kerry Dickey sent away a hard shot on goal in the 58th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Sol Stover had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Valdosta FC booed when St. James FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 93 match minutes in a wonderful position. Clint Blount didn't get a good kick on the ball.
