Springfield Zips's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave FCM FC the free kick. A collision led to Springfield Zips getting a freekick after 10 minutes play. Brandon Polk hit a great ball. Wilfred Hills took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from George Ford, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 16 minutes into the match, FCM FC's George Ford sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Wilfred Hills narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell George Ford to make the kick off. When the match clock showed 53 minutes, the score became 2-0 when George Ford sped through Springfield Zips's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Wilfred Hills. If Jerrod Maher had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. After some careless play in the Springfield Zips defense, Jerrod Maher kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Wilfred Hills. The Springfield Zips fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Wilfred Hills should have stopped the shot. The audience was convinced that George Ford's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Wilfred Hills was relentless in the 95th minute of the game. 96 minutes into the match, Stewart Carson notched a goal, 5-1, to the right of Springfield Zips's Wilfred Hills. Wilfred Hills was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. There was no doubt that FCM FC were the better team. FCM FC's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
