Luis Eduardo Peirano's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Menéndez Dunn read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 13th minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Odilón Duarte in the 15th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Mercé Poza prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Mercé Poza showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Odilón Duarte, who was totally free with the ball in the 18th minute. Menéndez Dunn tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Xamin Cazorla's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Menéndez Dunn was relentless in the 33rd minute of the game. Mercé Poza took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristiano Gómez, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The referee felt a red card was in order, 37 minutes into the game, when Carlos Alberto Jara put in a rough tackle. In the 43rd minute, Luis Eduardo Peirano fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Menéndez Dunn, passed just outside the right post. In the 48th minute, Xamin Cazorla made a precise shot to the right of Menéndez Dunn. Salinas AFC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-0. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Menéndez Dunn was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Salinas AFC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Xamin Cazorla was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-0. Mercé Poza came out of the goal in the 76th minute to try and stop a shot by Salinas AFC's Odilón Duarte. But to his dismay, Odilón Duarte quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 4-1. Luis Eduardo Peirano fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Menéndez Dunn having to interfere. After having played for 91 minutes, Xamin Cazorla managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Chacai's supporters crossed their fingers, but Xamin Cazorla was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 96 minutes into the match, Chacai's Xamin Cazorla sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Menéndez Dunn narrowly saved just below the crossbar. If Xamin Cazorla had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 98th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Chacai's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
