Fabinho Rosado sent away a hard shot on goal in the 16th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 18th match minute, C P D Aço Minas was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Matheus de Godoi to maneuver through the defense. Simão Meireles took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 20th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Luiz Paulo Guerra. C P D Aço Minas's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fabinho Rosado in the 21st minute of play forced Era SC's goalkeeper Tostão Prestes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, Era SC's Roger Breckenfeld got a free kick in the 34th minute. Afonso Fernandez fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luiz Paulo Guerra having to interfere. In the 42ndth minute of the game Afonso Fernandez who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but C P D Aço Minas's Luiz Paulo Guerra was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Era SC's zone, Fabinho Rosado stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Tostão Prestes came out of the goal and Fabinho Rosado tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After having played for 52 minutes, Afonso Fernandez managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Era SC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Afonso Fernandez was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Adrianinho de Barros made a kick off. Tostão Prestes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Fabinho Rosado in the 57th minute of play. Luiz Paulo Guerra was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Adrianinho de Barros showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 0-1 in the 61 minute of play. After having played for 64 minutes, Afonso Fernandez managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Era SC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Afonso Fernandez was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Afonso Fernandez succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 0-2 in the 73rd playminute. The supporters of Era SC booed when C P D Aço Minas was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 75 match minutes in a wonderful position. Zézinho Damião didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 79th minute of the match Era SC got a corner. C P D Aço Minas's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Simão Meireles ran over to the corner to take the kick. Pedro Luiz Leite's late challenge caught a Era SC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Pedro Luiz Leite helped the player get up and apologised. After 82 played minutes C P D Aço Minas got a freekick which was hit by Pedro Luiz Leite. C P D Aço Minas's Luiz Paulo Guerra played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Adrianinho de Barros in the 83rd minute of play. Afonso Fernandez recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 85th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Dinei Varela had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 93rd match minute, Era SC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Téo Albuquerque to maneuver through the defense. 97 minutes into the match, Era SC's goal looked a bit too open when Dinei Varela came free, but Tostão Prestes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Tostão Prestes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Fabinho Rosado in the 100th minute of the match. When the final whistle sounded Era SC left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than C P D Aço Minas.
