Spectators: 7175 (Terracing: 5383, Seating: 1650, VIP seats: 142) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. The referee ignored Quixoba's protests and gave Basílio Viana a yellow card for diving instead. Gino Leite recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 9th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The supporters of Cauarru booed when Quixoba was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 12 match minutes in a wonderful position. Moisés Veiga didn't get a good kick on the ball. A collision led to Cauarru getting a freekick after 14 minutes play. José Vítor Arce hit a great ball. In the 15th match minute, Quixoba was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Egídio Mineiro to maneuver through the defense. Danilo Gerber struck a weak shot in the 16th minute. Alfredão Barros didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Cauarru. In the 17th minute, Moisés Veiga hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 29 played minutes Cauarru got a freekick which was hit by Cafu de Carvalho. Gino Leite sent away a hard shot on goal in the 33rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 34 minutes into the match, Cauarru's goal looked a bit too open when Falcão Figueiredo came free, but Denílson dos Santos reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Gino Leite took the ball and in the 35 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Denílson dos Santos. Denílson dos Santos dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gino Leite in the 44th minute of play forced Cauarru's goalkeeper Denílson dos Santos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Quixoba's Alfredão Barros proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 45th minute of the match, managed to save Quixoba from getting a goal against them. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Danilo Gerber stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 51 minutes into the match, Gino Leite had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Denílson dos Santos. Cauarru's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Gino Leite was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. Falcão Figueiredo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 58th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Alfredão Barros came out of the goal in the 60th minute to try and stop a shot by Cauarru's Danilo Gerber. But to his dismay, Danilo Gerber quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-2. After some careless play in the Cauarru defense, Moisés Veiga kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Denílson dos Santos. The Cauarru fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Denílson dos Santos should have stopped the shot. Cauarru's Denílson dos Santos played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gino Leite in the 72nd minute of play. Falcão Figueiredo spun around in front of the goal 73 minutes in the game, and got away a shot that, to his disappointment, went to the left of Cauarru's goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 76th minute, Falcão Figueiredo managed to get in a good position for a shot. Quixoba's supporters rose to their feet, but Falcão Figueiredo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Denílson dos Santos breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The audience thought a goal was coming when Falcão Figueiredo got free with Denílson dos Santos in the 81st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. If Falcão Figueiredo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. If Gino Leite had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Falcão Figueiredo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 90th minute of the match, but Denílson dos Santos made a huge save.
