Matheus Carvalho didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Eurico Linhares went, in the 9th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. In the 11th match minute, Clube Atlético Paulista was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Waldemar Faria to maneuver through the defense. Matheus Carvalho showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luiz Fernando de Toledo, who was totally free with the ball in the 13th minute. 22 minutes into the game, Dida Sousa was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Clube Atlético Paulista's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave WAU team the free kick. A collision led to Clube Atlético Paulista getting a freekick after 23 minutes play. Dida Sousa hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luiz Fernando de Toledo in the 23rd minute of play forced Clube Atlético Paulista's goalkeeper Matheus Carvalho to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 31 minutes into the match, Clube Atlético Paulista's goal looked a bit too open when Paulo Paiva came free, but Matheus Carvalho reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Luiz Fernando de Toledo scored 0-3 in the 36th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Matheus Carvalho, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Dida Sousa to strike the kick off in the second half. Clube Atlético Paulista's Matheus Carvalho played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Paulo Paiva in the 56th minute of play. Matheus Carvalho made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Paulo Paiva in the 64th minute of play. Paulo Paiva sent away a hard shot on goal in the 65th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After having played for 67 minutes, Eurico Linhares managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. WAU team's supporters crossed their fingers, but Eurico Linhares was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Laerte de Castro in the 70th minute of play forced Clube Atlético Paulista's goalkeeper Matheus Carvalho to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Benjamim Nunes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dida Sousa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Wiliam Vides's late challenge caught a Clube Atlético Paulista's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Wiliam Vides helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, WAU team's Wiliam Vides got a free kick in the 77th minute. Benjamim Nunes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dida Sousa in the 79th minute of the match. In the 83rd minute, Paulo Paiva ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Matheus Carvalho was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-6. The supporters of Clube Atlético Paulista booed when WAU team was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 88 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fernandão Lopes didn't get a good kick on the ball. Luiz Henrique missed a clear chance of a goal when in the 90 minute of the game fired away a shot, but unfortunally the ball went out to the Benjamim Nunes right hand side. In the 94th minute of the match, Laerte de Castro tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Matheus Carvalho saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. WAU team's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
