Percy Fernandez showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Eleuterio Galo, who was totally free with the ball in the 12th minute. 13 minutes into the match, Sport Clube Recife's goal looked a bit too open when Eleuterio Galo came free, but Percy Fernandez reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 14 played minutes Sport Clube Recife got a freekick which was hit by Pablo Lampard. In the 17thth minute of the game Eleuterio Galo who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Sport Clube Recife's Percy Fernandez was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Gaston Zárate in the 25th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Percy Fernandez prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 26 minutes into the match, Santos City's goal looked a bit too open when Pablo Lampard came free, but Rogelio Aurken reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience was convinced that Eleuterio Galo's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Percy Fernandez was relentless in the 32nd minute of the game. In the 35thth minute of the game Gaston Zárate who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Sport Clube Recife's Percy Fernandez was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 36 minutes into the game, Reginaldo Brodel was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Alexsandro Dionísio recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 37th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Percy Fernandez showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Eleuterio Galo in the 43rd minute of the match. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Eleuterio Galo stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After a defensive mix-up in Sport Clube Recife's zone, Gaston Zárate stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Percy Fernandez came out of the goal and Gaston Zárate tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. With his leg Percy Fernandez managed to avoid a goal in the 60thth minute, when Santos City's Eleuterio Galo fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. 62 minutes into the match, Gualter Penha had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Rogelio Aurken. Santos City's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Gualter Penha was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. In the 67th minute Robby Woody shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rogelio Aurken saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 69 minutes into the match, Santos City's goal looked a bit too open when Gualter Penha came free, but Rogelio Aurken reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Santos City's Caner Timurhan was substituted for Eleuterio Galo. In the 71st minute of the match Sport Clube Recife got a corner. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Caner Timurhan in the 77th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Percy Fernandez saved Sport Clube Recife from getting behind. 80 minutes into the match, Sport Clube Recife's goalkeeper Percy Fernandez had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Caner Timurhan. After 83 played minutes Santos City got a freekick which was hit by Valério Galvão. Santos City's Umberto Mangueira was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Percy Fernandez in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
