Isaias Lugo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Leopoldo Laurin in the 13th minute of play. Ambrosio Firman received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 15th minute. Joel Lop tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 17th play minute Ambrosio Firman came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Joel Lop. 1-0. Emiliano Ortle's late challenge caught a DE LEON FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Emiliano Ortle helped the player get up and apologised. After having played for 26 minutes, Ambrosio Firman managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. RIVER PLATE's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ambrosio Firman was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The supporters of RIVER PLATE booed when DE LEON FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 27 match minutes in a wonderful position. Arturo Matro didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a rather tough play, DE LEON FC's Arturo Matro got a free kick in the 32nd minute. Hilario Silbestre received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 37th minute. Joel Lop tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Ambrosio Firman had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Hilario Silbestre fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Joel Lop having to interfere. Hilario Silbestre's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Joel Lop read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 42nd minute of play. Ambrosio Firman sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Ambrosio Firman had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 48th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.

The wind increased when Hilario Silbestre made the kick off in the second half. After some fancy dribbling in the 52nd minute, Teofilo Abechuco managed to get in a good position for a shot. DE LEON FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Teofilo Abechuco was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Isaias Lugo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Hilario Silbestre in the 57th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Joel Lop prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Leopoldo Laurin could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 59th minute of the match, but Isaias Lugo made a huge save. When Fermin Osorio fell near the penalty area in the 61st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored DE LEON FC's protests and gave Fermin Osorio a yellow card for diving instead. Fermin Osorio hit a great freekick 61 minutes into the match. If Hilario Silbestre had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 69th minute, Fermin Osorio hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Hilario Silbestre might have been able to make a better finish in the 74th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Joel Lop. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Hilario Silbestre ran back to his position shaking his head. When Teofilo Abechuco came up free with the goalie in the 80th minute, the DE LEON FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Teofilo Abechuco couldn't finish the play. When Osvaldo Eguntsenti fell near the penalty area in the 88th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored RIVER PLATE's protests and gave Osvaldo Eguntsenti a yellow card for diving instead. Osvaldo Eguntsenti hit a great freekick 88 minutes into the match. After 93 played minutes Teofilo Abechuco rounded RIVER PLATE's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 1-1. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the RIVER PLATE players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
