The crowd rose to their feet as Curhownagh's Blathma McSteve slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Gearalt Barrett. That made the score 2-0 after 11 minutes of play. When Blian McWilliam fell near the penalty area in the 24th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The audience thought a goal was coming when Alfred McDecland got free with Gearalt Barrett in the 30th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 36th play minute Blathma McSteve came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Gearalt Barrett. 4-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Brenan Myler in the 41st minute of play forced Cork's goalkeeper Gearalt Barrett to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gearalt Barrett made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 8-0. There was no doubt that Curhownagh were the better team. Curhownagh's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
