Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Emmet McWilliam started the match with the kick off. When Gaynor Benson fell near the penalty area in the 2nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Rathmolyon Utd's protests and gave Gaynor Benson a yellow card for diving instead. Gaynor Benson hit a great freekick 2 minutes into the match. Renny McWilliam sent away a hard shot on goal in the 7th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Leonard Hamilton in the 9th minute of play forced Cork's goalkeeper Gearalt Barrett to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to Cork getting a freekick after 10 minutes play. Fintan Duggan hit a great ball. After 13 minutes of play, Rathmolyon Utd's Justin Rutherford made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Gearalt Barrett was left in no man's land by his defense there! When Dermot Jameson fell near the penalty area in the 16th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Cork's protests and gave Dermot Jameson a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Rathmolyon Utd booed when Cork was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 16 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dermot Jameson didn't get a good kick on the ball. Gearalt Barrett made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Leonard Hamilton in the 20th minute of play. Eoin Gollogley made in the 22nd minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Gaynor Benson however managed to control. In the 29th minute the ball was on its way in behind Rathmolyon Utd's goalkeeper Kevinn McCollion, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Bedilia Deery charged in rather forcefully in the 32nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Bedilia Deery the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 33 played minutes, Rathmolyon Utd's Irwin McSteven shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Gearalt Barrett came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Rathmolyon Utd reached it. Cork's Renny McWilliam got a good chance for a goal in the 40th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Dermot Jameson stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 51 minutes into the match, Dermot Jameson had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Kevinn McCollion. Rathmolyon Utd's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Dermot Jameson was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. After a rather tough play, Rathmolyon Utd's Leonard Hamilton got a free kick in the 53rd minute. After some careless play in the Rathmolyon Utd defense, Dermot Jameson kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Kevinn McCollion. The Rathmolyon Utd fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Kevinn McCollion should have stopped the shot. Renny McWilliam recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 69th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a rather tough play, Cork's Donoghue Ramsey got a free kick in the 75th minute. Cork's Gearalt Barrett proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 78th minute of the match, managed to save Cork from getting a goal against them. In the 82nd match minute, Cork was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Devlin Moran to maneuver through the defense. After a rather tough play, Cork's Fintan Duggan got a free kick in the 86th minute. Kevinn McCollion took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Renny McWilliam, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Cork had won after a very even match.
