With an extended leg and a bit of luck Casey McJohn prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Donagh Molloy's late challenge caught a Drink Team's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Casey McJohn stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Rollin McPhil's shot from short distance in the 47th minute. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Rollin McPhil was the one to do the kick off. After a defensive mix-up in Drink Team's zone, Rollin McPhil stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Casey McJohn came out of the goal and Rollin McPhil tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Sneem's Rollin McPhil managed to work through Drink Team's defense and was going for an easy goal, but he hit the shot with his toe and the ball flew outside the goal. Rollin McPhil dejectedly held out his arms as if to ask why the ball hadn't gone in. Sneem's Donlevy McCollion got a good chance for a goal in the 55th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When Rollin McPhil came up free with the goalie in the 60th minute, the Sneem fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Rollin McPhil couldn't finish the play.
