After 8 minutes, Breandan Savic mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Drink Team and the Cork players grew even worse after the yellow card. Casey McJohn showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Brendan Lavine, who was totally free with the ball in the 12th minute. Through an outstanding action, after 23 minutes, Casey McJohn successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. After 24 minutes Drink Team's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Iarla Prunty who took care of the corner kick. Berke McOliver made a great header on Cork's corner, it was just that Drink Team's Casey McJohn managed to reach the ball for a save. Casey McJohn made an important save on a dangerous shot by Dermot Jameson in the 26th minute. 31 minutes into the match, Cork's Dermot Jameson sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Casey McJohn narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Dermot Jameson stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Gearalt Barrett showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Breandan Savic in the 55th minute of the match. In the 64th minute Dermot Jameson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Casey McJohn saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet as Drink Team's Breandan Savic slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Gearalt Barrett. That made the score 0-1 after 69 minutes of play. 74 minutes into the game, Dermot Jameson cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Casey McJohn was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Drink Team's Casey McJohn played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dermot Jameson in the 77th minute of play. Tobin McSteven fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 88th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Casey McJohn having to interfere. Drink Team succeeded in salvaging a draw, even though Cork had controlled the match.
