With a couple of smart ball manuevers Sidney Bourne in the 9th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ralf Woodhall saved Grangetown F.C. from getting behind. When Dean Grayson fell near the penalty area in the 18th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Newnham's protests and gave Dean Grayson a yellow card for diving instead. After 18 played minutes Newnham got a freekick which was hit by Dean Grayson. After 20 minutes, Sidney Bourne mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Newnham and the Grangetown F.C. players grew even worse after the yellow card. After some careless play in the Grangetown F.C. defense, Peter Elam kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ralf Woodhall. The Grangetown F.C. fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ralf Woodhall should have stopped the shot. 25 minutes into the game, Newnham's Sidney Bourne nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Ralf Woodhall made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Sidney Bourne in the 28th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ralf Woodhall prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Brynn Dunning hit a great freekick 29 minutes into the match. Ralf Woodhall made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sidney Bourne in the 30th minute of play. 34 minutes into the match, Keiran Haywood notched a goal, 0-3, to the right of Grangetown F.C.'s Ralf Woodhall. Ralf Woodhall was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Sidney Bourne struck a weak shot in the 41st minute. Ralf Woodhall didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Newnham. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ian Houlahan during the 42nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Ian Houlahan kicked well hit freekick during the 42nd minute of the match. The Grangetown F.C. players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Newnham were winning 0-3.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Sidney Bourne made a kick off. After a defensive mix-up in Grangetown F.C.'s zone, Sidney Bourne stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ralf Woodhall came out of the goal and Sidney Bourne tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Ralf Woodhall took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sidney Bourne, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Sidney Bourne sent away a hard shot on goal in the 56th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 57 minutes of play Grangetown F.C.'s Ian Houlahan was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. Peter Elam might have been able to make a better finish in the 59th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Ralf Woodhall. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Peter Elam ran back to his position shaking his head. Ralf Woodhall was out of position in the 62 minute of play, and Sidney Bourne capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Sidney Bourne really showed his touch with that goal: 0-4. 71 minutes into the match, Peter Elam had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Ralf Woodhall. Grangetown F.C.'s manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Peter Elam was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-5. In the 75th match minute, Newnham was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Beinn Jackson to maneuver through the defense. 82 minutes in the game, Sidney Bourne dribbled his way through the penalty area and after maneuvering past an opponent, drilled a quick shot at the goal. The ball looked like it was going in, but it was hit a bit too hard and flew over the goal. Ralf Woodhall made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sidney Bourne in the 84th minute of play. After having played for 87 minutes, Peter Elam managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Newnham's supporters crossed their fingers, but Peter Elam was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Peter Elam sent away a hard shot on goal in the 89th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 91st minute, Sidney Bourne reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Ralf Woodhall. The goal made the score 0-6. In the 94th minute, Peter Elam got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Newnham's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
