Rueben Laycock breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Adam Law sent away a hard shot on goal in the 17th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jamie Kelly struck a weak shot in the 18th minute. Bill Kay didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Manchester utd. 22 minutes into the match, Purple Cobras's goal looked a bit too open when Adam Law came free, but Bill Kay reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Martin Folwill was extremely unlucky when he, in the 26th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. An unexpected shot in the 34th minute by Johnny Attwood got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Jamie Kelly's late challenge caught a Purple Cobras's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Jamie Kelly helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Manchester utd getting a freekick after 35 minutes play. Jamie Kelly hit a great ball. In the 36th minute, Perry Toovey sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Manchester utd's Rueben Laycock didn't even have to move. Bill Kay showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Adam Law, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. Manchester utd's Adam Law got a good chance for a goal in the 42nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 45th minute Adam Law shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bill Kay saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.
50 minutes into the game, Steven Malpeli was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Manchester utd's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Purple Cobras the free kick. A collision led to Manchester utd getting a freekick after 51 minutes play. Steven Malpeli hit a great ball. Rueben Laycock took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Martin Folwill, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Adam Law had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Adam Law could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 61st minute of the match, but Bill Kay made a huge save. Lewis Fielden kicked well hit freekick during the 63rd minute of the match. 65 minutes into the match, Purple Cobras's Johnny Attwood sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Rueben Laycock narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Adam Law received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 71st minute. Bill Kay tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Bill Kay made a fantastic save in the 94th minute, when Adam Law sent off a good shot on target. Despite being the better team, Manchester utd failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
