East Leakers's Richard Thompson got a good chance for a goal in the 9th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The audience was convinced that Denis Furniss's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Rodd Armitage was relentless in the 10th minute of the game. Rodd Armitage showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Richard Thompson, who was totally free with the ball in the 18th minute. After 18 played minutes AEK ATHENS got a freekick which was hit by Tamás Honti. AEK ATHENS's Rodd Armitage proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 20th minute of the match, managed to save AEK ATHENS from getting a goal against them. Max Marshall received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 34th minute. Conal Lewington tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Rodd Armitage was out of position in the 36 minute of play, and Olly Morley capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Olly Morley really showed his touch with that goal: 2-0. 41 minutes into the game, Barney Marlow was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. East Leakers's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave AEK ATHENS the free kick. A collision led to East Leakers getting a freekick after 41 minutes play. Barney Marlow hit a great ball. In the 44th match minute, East Leakers was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Olly Morley to maneuver through the defense. Richard Thompsons short, quick shot in the 46thth minute got Rodd Armitage to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in.

Mike Hume received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 53rd minute. Rodd Armitage tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 61 minutes, Allan Joynes mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the AEK ATHENS and the East Leakers players grew even worse after the yellow card. 61 minutes into the game, one of AEK ATHENS:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. The supporters of East Leakers booed when AEK ATHENS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 72 match minutes in a wonderful position. Todd Leatherdale didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a rather tough play, East Leakers's Barney Marlow got a free kick in the 75th minute. AEK ATHENS's Rodd Armitage played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Richard Thompson in the 77th minute of play. Olly Morley fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rodd Armitage having to interfere. Rodd Armitage showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Marek Hampshire in the 80th minute of the match. Todd Leatherdale charged in rather forcefully in the 81st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Todd Leatherdale the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 81 played minutes AEK ATHENS got a freekick which was hit by Todd Leatherdale. East Leakers's Richard Thompson got a good chance for a goal in the 83rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Barney Marlow fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 84th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rodd Armitage having to interfere. Richard Thompson's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Rodd Armitage read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 88th minute of play. Rodd Armitage made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Richard Thompson in the 94th minute of play. 96 minutes into the match, Richard Thompson notched a goal, 5-0, to the right of AEK ATHENS's Rodd Armitage. Rodd Armitage was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it.
