The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ernestin Hunkeler during the 3rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 3rd match minute, 1. FC Vatikan was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ernestin Hunkeler to maneuver through the defense. John Schenker fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 6th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tony Frey having to interfere. FC Vatikan's Ernestin Hunkeler was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 13th play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. With a little luck, Tegerfelden's Tony Frey got control of the ball when John Schenker tried to sneak it across the goal line. John Schenker hit a great freekick 23 minutes into the match. Rodrigo Wertscher received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 25th minute. Leonello Henseler tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Enea Wechsler received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 27th minute. FC Vatikan's Tobie Colmano got a free kick in the 35th minute. Tony Frey made a fantastic save in the 44th minute, when John Schenker sent off a good shot on target. 45 minutes into the match, Tegerfelden's goalkeeper Tony Frey had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by John Schenker. Ernestin Hunkeler recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 47th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when John Schenker stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After 51 played minutes 1. FC Vatikan got a freekick which was hit by Clarence Monney. Casimir Dahinden's late challenge caught a 1. FC Vatikan's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Casimir Dahinden helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Tegerfelden getting a freekick after 53 minutes play. Casimir Dahinden hit a great ball. 1. FC Vatikan's John Schenker got a good chance for a goal in the 55th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Rodrigo Wertscher had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. John Schenker fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 65th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tony Frey having to interfere. In the 73rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Tegerfelden's goalkeeper Tony Frey, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Tony Frey showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from John Schenker in the 75th minute of the match. In the 77th minute, Enea Wechsler fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Leonello Henseler, passed just outside the right post. Ernestin Hunkeler fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 79th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tony Frey having to interfere. Enea Wechsler sent away a hard shot on goal in the 83rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 91st minute, Enea Wechsler managed to get in a good position for a shot. Tegerfelden's supporters rose to their feet, but Enea Wechsler was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Leonello Henseler breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Arnaud Lüdi kicked well hit freekick during the 96th minute of the match. Enea Wechsler was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 97th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. For all the effort they put into the match, the Tegerfelden players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for 1. FC Vatikan.
