He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Fc Schönenwerd reached it. Bob Merkt's late challenge caught a Karakartal JK's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Bob Merkt helped the player get up and apologised. In the 30th match minute, Fc Schönenwerd was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bob Merkt to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 32 minutes, Denis Gerber managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Karakartal JK's supporters crossed their fingers, but Denis Gerber was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 33 minutes into the match, Francois Strebel had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Henri Weiss. Fc Schönenwerd's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Francois Strebel was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. The crowd rose to their feet as Fc Schönenwerd's Alois Zihler slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Artur Walter. That made the score 1-1 after 38 minutes of play. Karakartal JK's Artur Walter played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bob Merkt in the 42nd minute of play. Artur Walter showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Baptiste Maurer, who was totally free with the ball in the 43rd minute. Henri Weiss took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Matthias Zeiher, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Francois Strebel to strike the kick off in the second half. After a defensive mix-up in Fc Schönenwerd's zone, Wigand Büchel stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Henri Weiss came out of the goal and Wigand Büchel tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Wigand Büchel hit a great freekick 55 minutes into the match. In the 62nd minute, Fabrizio Fridli ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Henri Weiss was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. After 70 played minutes Fc Schönenwerd got a freekick which was hit by Konrad Elmiger. An unexpected shot in the 72nd minute by Francois Strebel got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. The supporters of Karakartal JK booed when Fc Schönenwerd was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 75 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bob Merkt didn't get a good kick on the ball. Franklin Amsel received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 77th minute. Henri Weiss tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Francois Strebel fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Henri Weiss having to interfere. After 80 played minutes Fc Schönenwerd got a freekick which was hit by Goran Pfeiffer. Bob Merkt struck a weak shot in the 83rd minute. Artur Walter didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Fc Schönenwerd. Henri Weiss made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Matthias Zeiher in the 91st minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alois Zihler in the 95th minute of play forced Karakartal JK's goalkeeper Artur Walter to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Karakartal JK's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
