If Gică Lucan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Gică Lucan struck a weak shot in the 20th minute. Tiberiu Lupescu didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Fc Farul 1983. POLITEHNICA IASI's Tiberiu Lupescu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gică Lucan in the 30th minute of play. The throw-in from Costin Martin in the 36th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Fc Farul 1983's Ioan Oroian. Tiberiu Lupescu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ioan Oroian in the 37th minute of play. The audience was convinced that Gică Lucan's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Tiberiu Lupescu was relentless in the 38th minute of the game. When the match clock showed 38 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Gică Lucan sped through POLITEHNICA IASI's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Tiberiu Lupescu. 45 minutes into the game, Ionel Ghionescu was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. POLITEHNICA IASI's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Fc Farul 1983 the free kick. The crowd rose to their feet as Gică Lucan kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Tiberiu Lupescu. That made the score 0-3 in the 71 minute of play. In the 77th minute Panait Croitoru shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sever Caramitru saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Nicodim Călimanescu's late challenge caught a Fc Farul 1983's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. After 95 minutes, Costin Martin mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the POLITEHNICA IASI and the Fc Farul 1983 players grew even worse after the yellow card.
