When Aytuğ Zeren fell near the penalty area in the 18th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ulus's protests and gave Aytuğ Zeren a yellow card for diving instead. After 18 played minutes Ulus got a freekick which was hit by Aytuğ Zeren. 25 minutes into the match, GÖZTEPE's goal looked a bit too open when Can Sami came free, but Batı Orkun reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Can Sami in the 26th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Batı Orkun prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After some fancy dribbling in the 30th minute, Cenap Uğur managed to get in a good position for a shot. GÖZTEPE's supporters rose to their feet, but Cenap Uğur was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Özden Hicran breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Batı Orkun didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Enginalp Kırca went, in the 37th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. With 44 minutes on the clock, Berk Kutertan commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. In the 44th minute, one of GÖZTEPE:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for GÖZTEPE. Disappointed in the 1-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Cenap Uğur was the one to do the kick off. Batı Orkun was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Enginalp Kırca showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-3 in the 53 minute of play. Cenap Uğur received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 63rd minute. Özden Hicran tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 66th minute, Can Sami got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The referee showed Şeray Maksum the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Şeray Maksum hit a great freekick 67 minutes into the match. 71 minutes into the match, Ulus's Enginalp Kırca sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Batı Orkun narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 71st match minute, GÖZTEPE was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Genco Hüryaşar to maneuver through the defense. An unexpected shot in the 90th minute by Can Sami got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Batı Orkun stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Enginalp Kırca's shot from short distance in the 94th minute. After some careless play in the Ulus defense, Cenap Uğur kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Özden Hicran. The Ulus fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Özden Hicran should have stopped the shot. The Ulus supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Ulus would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
