If Serhat Oktan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 4th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 8 minutes into the match, Akcaabat's goal looked a bit too open when Erol İşcan came free, but Robert Pires reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Serhat Oktan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hazım Keyfer having to interfere. The crowd rose to their feet as Erol İşcan kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Robert Pires. Hazım Keyfer made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. If Serhat Oktan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 85th minute, Erol İşcan got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Hamza Tuğtaşı struck a weak shot in the 88th minute. Robert Pires didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Bornova. Robert Pires took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Erol İşcan, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
