Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Amancio Delpiano in the 5th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Robert Pitkänen prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Finland's Robert Pitkänen proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 6th minute of the match, managed to save Finland from getting a goal against them. Chile's Reynaldo Paillao played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Iisakki Möksy in the 10th minute of play. 11 minutes had been played when some careless play by Chile's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Ukko Mattila was slow to take the kick. During this time Finland's players had a chance to rest. The corner led to Finland's Johannes Kujanpää getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. In the 15th minute, Santiago Puertocarrero ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Robert Pitkänen was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. Robert Pitkänen made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Amancio Delpiano in the 21st minute of play. 23 minutes into the match, Chile's goal looked a bit too open when Ukko Mattila came free, but Reynaldo Paillao reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 24 minutes Chile's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Ukko Mattila who took care of the corner kick. The corner led Finland's Veli-Matti Kaukonen to fire away a dangerous shot which Reynaldo Paillao despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. In the 24th minute, Veli-Matti Kaukonen ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Reynaldo Paillao was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1. Finland's Robert Pitkänen played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Amancio Delpiano in the 27th minute of play. Reynaldo Paillao didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Ukko Mattila went, in the 28th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-2 was the resulting score. In the 37th minute, Amancio Delpiano ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Robert Pitkänen was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-2. In the 40th minute, Ilkka Nieminen got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Robert Pitkänen made a fantastic save in the 42nd minute, when Amancio Delpiano sent off a good shot on target.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ukko Mattila to make the kick off. Robert Pitkänen showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Amancio Delpiano, who was totally free with the ball in the 56th minute. Robert Pitkänen stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Amancio Delpiano's shot from short distance in the 58th minute. Chile's Normando Altamirano was substituted for Amancio Delpiano. Chile's Edelmiro Acuña was substituted for Santiago Puertocarrero. A sloppy throw-in by Niceto Barreau in the 64th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Finland's Erno Alanko. Robert Pitkänen took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Normando Altamirano, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Jaakob Lyytikäinen hit a great freekick 69 minutes into the match. Finland's Urmas Kuparinen was substituted for Iisakki Möksy. In the 74th minute of the match Finland got a corner. Chile's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Ukko Mattila ran over to the corner to take the kick. A nice corner shot did that Ukko Mattila got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Reynaldo Paillao quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. In the 75th minute, Niceto Barreau hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 80 minutes had been played when some careless play by Chile's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Ukko Mattila was slow to take the kick. During this time Finland's players had a chance to rest. Finland's Ukko Mattila was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Reynaldo Paillao in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Robert Pitkänen made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Normando Altamirano in the 81st minute of play. After 86 minutes, Ukko Mattila mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Finland and the Chile players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Chile booed when Finland was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 86 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ukko Mattila didn't get a good kick on the ball. Robert Pitkänen made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Normando Altamirano in the 86th minute of play. In the 88th minute Chile were awarded a corner. Gaston Trucco went to the cornerflag to take it. The goalkeeper smacked the ball away after a great corner, but Niceto Barreau advanced and headed the ball into goal, 4-2 in the 88th minute. 93 minutes into the match, Chile's goalkeeper Reynaldo Paillao had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Aimo Modig. If Jose Esteban Lawrence had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Chile walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
